A Forum for Amplifying Expert Voices on Global Security

We are a discussion forum by a community of practitioners, scholars, journalists, and leaders working on today’s most pressing security challenges around the globe.

About International Security Bridge

What are we about?

Purpose: to bring clarity, foresight, and constructive debate to complex global security challenges

How: through open dialogue and the sharing of diverse perspectives.

Why: because no single institution, sector, or nation can solve these challenges alone — they require        inclusive, cooperative approaches.

  Our Guiding Principles

  • Broad Security Lens: We define security widely, embracing not only defense and diplomacy but also such global challenges as democratic backsliding, affective polarization, climate insecurity, political violence, migration, and rapid technological change.
  • No “Water’s Edge” Divide: We reject the artificial boundary between domestic politics and international security. Our work insists on seeing their deep interconnections—openly, candidly, and constructively.
  • Non-Partisan, Non-Activist, and Respectful Discourse: Although the ISB includes both activists and members of political parties, the ISB and the ISB Steering Group (SG) does not collectively endorse any activist cause or political party. Posts instead focus on the civil exchange of unbiased, credible, and reasonable ideas and facts.
  • Clear and Transparent Democratic Processes: The ISB is a virtual republic run by a 15-person SG. A majority of SG votes obtained via open ballot affirms new SG members and bylaws, and ISB members are given the opportunity to provide feedback to any measure voted on by the ISB that may impact them and the broader ISB.
  • The Chatham House Rule: Members exchange ideas on this forum secure in the knowledge that the ISB is protected space. Simply, members' words are not shared outside this forum without their consent.
